88 Months

Most don’t pay much attention to numbers, but double numbers should at least raise an eyebrow.  Today, marks the 88th month since we lost our precious daughter Brianna, December 19, 2014.  What a difficult day that was for her parents, nay in reality the next several months, even years.

Yes, with the passing of years, time has eased the sharpness of grief and benumbing sense of loss. The good news is this—the further the distance from that date, the closer to not only seeing our Brianna again, but embracing her with the thought that we never more shall part.

But to this number—Eighty-eight, we come to 383 weeks or 2681 days from that fateful day. The number ‘eight’ in the Bible is a symbol of ‘New Life’ or new beginning. Eight (8) is meaningful in the context of the Plan of Redemption. It has been for six thousand years that this little world has been wearing out due to sin. Very soon in the cosmic calendar, the seven thousandth year will begin—a millennial rest when the redeem shall ‘honeymoon’ with their Creator and Redeemer. Then, at the end of this “seventh cosmic year,” the New Jerusalem spoken of in Revelation 21, will descend at the command of the King and His redeemed subjects back to earth (Zechariah 14:4). After the final battle of Armageddon, when sin and sinners are at last and forever destroyed, the Creator will again resume His creative activity and all the redeemed will behold “a new heaven and a new earth” where righteousness and love only will dwell forever and ever as the eight thousand years arrives. (Revelation 21:1)

The number eight “8” also is significant in these other biblical truths—

  • 8 Beatitudes (Matthew 5)

  • 8 Writers of the New Testament

  • 8 Better things in the book of Hebrews

  • 8 Souls baptized in the flood, rose to new life

  • 8th son of Jesse (David) and Solomon was 8th son of David

  • The children of Israelites were circumcised on the 8th day

  • The name of Jesus in the Greek adds up to 888

  • There are 8 wicked personalities mentioned in Rev 21:8

So let us press forward until that day, for ‘eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have it entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9)
